Sonoma Valley is famous for producing the best Zinfandel in the world, often from extremely old vines.
This tour focuses on this unique grape variety that can produce such a wide range of wine styles. From blockbuster full-bodied reds that are brimming with spice and wild bramble fruit to the more elegant styles, you’ll learn about and taste some of the finest Zinfandel in Sonoma.
During the day you will also discover a variety of Sonoma’s AVA’s, or sub-regions. Each has its own unique terroir, determined by the micro-climate, soil types, altitude and aspect.
We will take you to see these diverse sub-regions and bring you inside 3 of Sonoma’s top Zinfandel-focused wineries. You will see the vineyards, learn about how the grapes are grown, and how the wines are made. You will enjoy private visits and premium tastings.

You will visit 3 wineries and enjoy a fabulous food and wine pairing lunch at one of the wineries, all included in the tour. We like to start the day at Seghesio, who make some spectacular old vine Zin. Thisis one of the great names in Sonoma for Zinfandel. Lunch is often at Ridge, perhaps the most famous name not only for Zin in Sonoma but also for Cabernet from just south of Sand Francisco. The final visit is often at Martinelli, another classic name. We will discover the Dry Creek AVA, which is the epicentre for fine Zinfandel, as well as other parts of Sonoma. However, appointments are subject to availability. We will ensure you have a fantastic day wherever we take you.

Your chauffeur arrives, wearing his top hat of course, to pick you up - anywhere you wish in Napa or Sonoma.
10.30 A.M.
Your day begins with an appointment for a private tour and tasting, just for your group. Your guide at the winery will tell you about the unique growing conditions in their vineyards and the secrets to how they craft their award-winning zinfandel wines. You will learn about the production process from grape to bottle. At the end of the visit there will be a tasting of a range of wines, typically 3-6 wines. Your personalized private tour allows you to ask any question you like.
12.30 P.M.
We arrive at your second winery visit of the day. Here you will enjoy a beautiful food and wine pairing lunch, a tour of the winery and tasting. The wine flows!
3.00 P.M.
You begin your 3nd winery appointment at another historical winery. Each winery you visit will be totally different, unique, and each has its own story to tell. Guests of Top Hat Luxury Wine Tours are always given VIP treatment. The tour will end with another tasting of 2-6 wines.
5.30 P.M.
The last visit wraps up and we will take you back to your accommodation or drop you off wherever you wish.
